As a helping professional, you are a story keeper. You listen, you help, and you offer a compassionate, non-judgemental, and skilled presence to individuals in need of your assistance. You offer this depth of yourself over and over again. This is emotional labour. These stories include the pain, suffering, traumas, losses, and resiliency of others and, in some way, become part of your story too.
This is the beauty and privilege of being a helping professional – you bear witness. There is a paradox present in this witnessing – where you as a helper can also experience stress and pain from holding the space and heart for other people’s suffering – this is often referred to within the occupational hazards for helpers including such things as burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
Expressive, reflective writing is a proven strategy for reducing stress, releasing painful emotions, cultivating self-awareness, and cultivating well-being.

Life Source Writing™: A Journal Coaching Program for Helping Professionals is a safe, compassionate place to explore, through the use of journaling and life writing, combined with mindfulness, relaxation, reflection and gratitude practices - who you are, who you are becoming and how you are doing in the deep end of caring for and supporting others. This is a chance for you to be heard, to be held with high regard and respect, to reflect, to connect with yourself and others who understand the intricacies of being a helping professional – it is a place to observe, know, grow and care for yourself. It is a place to be truly acknowledged for the meaningful work that you do.
This Creative Wellness coaching program offers you a place to write, share your writing (always optional), receive feedback, learn from the power of story (your own and others), learn the writing/wellness connection, receive inspiration and support for your reflective writing practice, as well as many writing prompts and exercises to put in your writing/journaling/self-care toolkit.
