I believe we are being called to create a self-care revolution, a movement where one-by-one we reconnect with the relationship with ourselves, so that we can truly be in enlightened, loving, kind, and meaningful relationships with one another.

I believe we are being called to say an individual and collective ”no” to excess stress (the kind that is killing people at significant rates – either literally or metaphorically), perpetual overwhelm, the frenetic multi-tasking, and the overcrowded state of daily life that describes many, many peoples’ circumstances.

When we are in a loving, awake, and tended relationship with the self…we are able to look with discernment at our lives and tell ourselves the truth, we are empowered to live our lives by design versus default.  We can see clearly.  This is a win-win in every aspect of your life, it is a win for the people around you.

What if you were to activate a call to action on your own behalf, that would have far reaching benefits for others – your family, friends, colleagues, clients/patients, your workplace, your community, the world?  This is the power of one!  The ripple effect to many.

Each time you choose to care for yourself, really care for yourself, from a place of compassion, non-judgment, kindness and unconditional love…you are choosing what many people never choose to do.  This is a radical act.  A necessary act.  The nature of the relationship you have with yourself shapes, in some way, large or small, the relationship you have with everything and everyone else around you.  Deep inside, you know this to be true.  When we abandon ourselves, we say it is OK for others to abandon us too.  When we show up fully for ourselves, we teach others to do this for us and with us, and for themselves and for others.  And so on, and so on…

I think we are being called at this time on our planet, to profoundly understand the interconnection between self-care and others’ well-being, self-care and environmental well-being, self-care and healthy parenting, self-care and successful marriages/relationships.  It is neither selfishness nor selflessness that creates the vibration for healing and well-being that is being craved and called for at this time in our history. It is a fundamental balance, the ebb and flow, between caring for others and nurturing the self.  We are co-creating history, alone and together.   We are living amidst a paradigm shift in terms of how we understand the impact we can each have in terms of making ourselves, our families, our communities, and the world healthier, happier, sustainable.  Sustainability is all about understanding our interconnections with each other, with the earth.  We must be awake to our own vitality, tend to it, as if it were the last blooming flower, the last standing tree – when we each do this, one-by-one, we inherently touch other people’s lives in a positive way.  Self-care is not selfish, it is wisdom alive in your life!

How can you start your own mini self-care revolution?  What positive impact will this revolution have on others? And beyond them? And beyond that?
